University Web Guidelines
In an effort to make University of Arkansas Web pages more easily identifiable and navigable to visitors, the following guidelines and requirements have been established. Many of these rules and guides are adapted from Monash University's well written Web style guide and modified for University of Arkansas use. These rules pertain to all official university pages, defined as those pages representing University of Arkansas departments and units and those pages residing on departmental servers. Personal pages residing on comp.uark.edu do not fall under the guidelines contained herein.

GENERAL WEB PAGE DESIGN REQUIREMENTS
Official University of Arkansas pages require:
- Consistent navigation scheme throughout the site.
- Adherence to sets of colors deemed complimentary to our official school red.
- Use of the official University of Arkansas page header elements.
- Consistent branding by use of the official logo as described on the "Branding and Visual Identity" page; or
- Consistent use of the word treatment for "University of Arkansas" including the logo
- Sites should be no wider than 955 pixels - to fit within the viewable area of a 1024 x 768 screen.
Site URLs
Each homepage of an official Web site should have an appropriate domain applied to it: Example: sociology.uark.edu.
While this may make some URLs longer than they are right now, this naming convention will make navigation much easier when it is applied consistently across the entire UARK domain. Current domain names that don't yet match this criterion may be retained to reduce confusion among anyone used to the existing name.
Refrain from requesting www as a part of the domain name.
